JINTUR, Sept. 5: Dr. Subhashchandra Rathi Balak Vidyamandir and Jijamata Vidyalaya in the city celebrated Gokulashtami with traditional fervour and religious enthusiasm on Saturday. A series of cultural, devotional and educational programmes were organised to commemorate the auspicious occasion.
School Headmaster M. P. Kadam, senior teacher Vinod Pachpile, and Sanjay Sable were present on the occasion. The programme commenced with the ceremonial worship of an image of Lord Krishna by the dignitaries.
A fancy-dress competition and a number of cultural performances formed an integral part of the celebrations. Student Roshni Dinesh Gaikwad presented a dance performance to the song “Mera Krishna Murari Mujhe Chhed Gayo Re.” Meanwhile, Anuradha Shelke and Arushi Kudale, along with their group from Class VII-B, presented a group dance.
Shreya Fartakhane performed a dance to “Radha Kaise Na Jale,” while Anuradha Ghusale presented a performance to the popular devotional song “Maiyya Yashoda.”
Tanvi Lakde, Akshara Aadhe, Shivkanya Aadhe, Anuradha Ghusale, Kavita Ghansawant, Dhanashree Budhwant and Roshni Wakale participated in the fancy-dress competition. Swaraj Ghuge, dressed as Lord Krishna, received appreciation for his impressive portrayal and costume.
The competition was judged by Meghraj Mandavghade and Mrs. Preeti Bidwe. The programme also included the recitation of the twelfth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. Basvashri Swami presented devotional bhajans, adding to the spiritual atmosphere of the occasion.
Addressing the students, senior teacher Vinod Pachpile appealed to them to remain self-motivated and participate actively in all school activities. He observed that Lord Krishna's life exemplified the ideals of righteous and exemplary living and said that the teachings contained in the Bhagavad Gita would remain relevant for generations to come.
Headmaster M. P. Kadam, in his address, said that Lord Krishna had imparted to humanity valuable lessons in sound decision-making and in standing steadfastly on the side of justice. He noted that although Lord Krishna was revered as a divine incarnation, his life set an exemplary standard for humanity. He urged students to incorporate these ideals into their conduct and character.
The proceedings were conducted by Mrs. Pratibha Sable, while the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Mohan Darade.Teachers and non-teaching staff of the institution contributed to the successful organisation of the programme
